Trust Over Control
Midweek encouragement for you, sis!
I’ve been sitting with this truth all week: you can love God deeply and still struggle to fully trust Him in certain areas.
For me, it looked like holding on tightly—especially to the things I felt responsible for—while still saying, “God, I trust You.” But God gently showed me that control can feel like security… when really, it’s just fear dressed up as wisdom.
Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
But if we’re honest, many of us are still waiting to see before we fully move.
I kept thinking about Saul in 1 Samuel 13—under pressure, anxious, and choosing to act instead of waiting on God. Then Jonathan, in 1 Samuel 14, who took a completely different posture—he inquired of God, waited for His direction, and desired a God-led victory, not just a quick win.
That contrast really checked my heart.
The question that shifted everything for me was this:
“What did I miss?” instead of “God, why didn’t You show up?”
Whew.
That posture opens the door for God to reveal, correct, and guide us with so much grace.
Proverbs 3:5–6 reminds us to trust in the Lord with all our heart and lean not on our own understanding. And Colossians 1:17 anchors us in truth: “He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.”
So here’s your invitation for the rest of this week:
Be honest with God. Say the quiet part out loud. Lay down the need to understand everything first—and choose to trust Him anyway.
He’s holding it all together, even the parts you’re gripping tightly.
So here’s a gentle question to sit with this week:
Where might you be choosing control over trust?
You don’t have to have it all figured out. Just be honest with Him. He’ll meet you there.
With love,
B
