Feeling Heavy?

I hope that the Lord has shown up and blessed you all throughout this week. This morning, I am encouraged to quiet the noise and rest in Him. Not just physical rest (although that's nice too), but spiritual rest. Oftentimes, we can get lost in the noise of our heart's longings: unanswered prayers, unmet expectations, or waiting on the physical manifestations of the promises that God whispered to us in our quiet time.

Sometimes, we get lost in the craziness of trying to "make it happen" for ourselves, but God doesn't call us to take control of the reins of our future; He asks us to trust in Him and wait on Him. He promises that in Him, we will find refuge and peace. "...but those who trust in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint" (Isaiah 40:30–31 NIV).

He also asks us to keep our minds on Him, knowing that there is no limit to what He can accomplish, and to hold fast to His promises. He is able to do more than we can ask, think, or imagine!

So, sis, if this week is weighing down on you or if there is a promise that you are waiting on the Lord for, take this opportunity to lay at His feet and pour your heart out to Him. Remember that we can only see a fraction of the whole picture and that all things will work out the way they’re meant to, by His grace. God is in the details! He is setting the scene for His glorious intervention.

Reflection Prompts:

  • How can I actively take a step back and give God the reins of my life? What does that look like, practically?

  • Are there any verses that come to mind when you think about finding rest in the Lord?

  • What does rest look like for you? Name a few ways that you've been able to take a step back from life and step into His presence this week.

Leave an encouraging note below for your sisters to read!
