See What The Lord Has Done
Today’s encouragement is to pause and ‘see what the Lord has done’ in your life. You may have heard the phrase, ‘We are living in realities that were once prayers.’ But often, we are too focused on what is coming ahead, the next prayer item, the current battle, or the present waiting season that we forget what God has already done. Yet, if we pause to reflect on what He has done, our minds will find evidence and truth of who He is, which will ground us for what we’re believing for next.
Last week, I happened to be in the neighbourhood where one of my former jobs was. It was a toxic, hard job that pushed me to take a six-month sabbatical to recover mentally and emotionally. Normally, as a reflective person, when I’d find myself in that neighbourhood, I’d praise God in remembrance of His deliverance. But that day, I was overwhelmed with the grief of being here while I was still wanting more career-wise. The feeling of having moved on yet not being fulfilled. The devil was literally lying to me that nothing more had become of my life, and for a moment, I was accepting that. It was being triggered by currently being in a waiting season for advancement in my career.
Thankfully, I was meeting a friend who, when I told the story, shifted my mind to see that I shouldn’t postpone praise until I get to where I want to be. The praise is for being restored. I was given back a career I wasn’t sure I’d return to when I left. I was lifted from one of the lowest seasons in my life. I was revived mentally and healed emotionally. I got a job in a higher organisation in the industry. Ah! God deserves praise!
So, I urge you to pause and see what the Lord has done for you. Remember the prayers you once had that are now realities. Write them down, go back to your journal, and recap. Look through your gallery and find moments of praise. Let us be grateful children towards God, constantly remembering what He has done and praising Him for the seasons past as we trust Him for the future. Do not let today and tomorrow cloud all the good and blessings God has already given you.
Psalm 66:5: Come and see what God has done: He is awesome in His deeds toward the children of man.
